Dalbeattie is a small town where cask ale cannot be found. Formerly the Pheasant Hotel, but now the Birchtree Hotel, I believe this was the last place in town to stock it.

Apparently accommodation is still available, but the bar does not feel much like a hotel bar. It is in fact a fairly modern and characterless place. Although the bar staff were efficient and friendly enough. Tables on a small patio at the rear looked like pleasant spots to grab, as they sit next to the river/stream that runs through the town.

The keg selection was Greene King Ice Breaker, Moretti, Fosters, Aspalls, Thatcher's Blood Orange Cider, Apple & Blackcurrant Cider & Cloudy Lemon Cider, Guinness, Tennent's Lager & Heineken.

Not really one to linger too long in.
