A fairly neat black and gold Victorian exterior, although the window glass is now clear, which promises a lot but it’s disappointing inside apart from some nouveau windows in the ceiling of the rear part, a touch of tongue & groove wall remains there too. The L shaped counter is on the left as you enter through the revolving door and retains a nouveau tiling band although damaged by modern coat hooks. The bar back looks original or at least old, it has a late Victorian aura. Three T-bars along the counter have a depressing range of UK kegs and Tennents, there’s a selection of screens, machines and piped music so all the town centre pub boxes are ticked.

This city centre corner pub has an unusual revolving door entrance which, I imagine, might cause some problems at weekend chucking out times. The one room bar is L-shaped, with a slightly raised area in the back corner and a variety of seating, including some small compartment sections. It was very busy on both the Thursday and Friday nights I called in, with a karaoke session in full swing on the former. Food is available and there were some very cheap, non-time restricted, beer offers, including Tetley’s Bitter at only £2.15 a pint.

lauders is a very friendly pub the staff are very friendly and will make sure you have a good time great pub food and wont leave a hole in your pocket
