A West End instituation and the best real ale pub for miles around.Situated on a busy crossroads ,it's a local landmark.Open plan inside but still with seating booths around the L shaped interior, there can be up to 9 real ales avaiable with a blackboard listing to one side. It's a proper boozer,a drinkers type of pub but smart and tidy.
The barmaid was friendly and offered tasters. It stays open until midnight so is often the gathering place for a last one (or two!) and on my late night trip the choice was Hybrid Magic Porridge (NBSS 3.5),Kirkby Lonsdale Jubilee,Kelburn Golden Hops,Broughton Sin Bin and Loch Leven Shining Night,a good mix of styles and strength.
Televised sport but otherwise screen off maintains a good feel,on leaving I bade a fond farewell and was addresses as Big Man which sounded complementary when delivered in glaswegian.A must visit and I will be back.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Three Judges

A traditional style pub with lots of dark timberwork and a decent collection of Art Deco style pendant lights. Nine handpumps with seven in operation on our visit, which was quite good for a Tuesday afternoon visit. These were Harviestoun Schiehallion, Fyne Ales Diamond Mine, Moorhouse's Blonde Witch, Strathaven Claverhouse, Kelburn Dark Moor and Bank Top Dark Mild. I went for the Moorhouse's and the Kelburn Dark Moor, both of which were excellent.

Good Beer Guide Pub. Mainly for blokes.

Sunday Lunch Time - all other punters were solo, heads down in the papers. Barely a noise.

Ales hadn't been labelled up on my arrival - landlady was just doing it. A request for a Boring Brown Bitter was met with an adequate Stonehenge Ales Spire Ale. From Wiltshire.

Everyone else was on Tenants. Not sure how they can keep so many real ales on and fresh - but they must do, as its in the GBG 2020.
