Banton has only the one pub. The Swan Inn. The area is a lot of dead end roads leading of the cross roads and if driving along the main road from Kilsyth heading east, you would not give Banton a second thought. The pub is on the corner of the Main Street, right at the cross. The pub is a large white building with the usual big T for Tennent's outside. The pub has a good selection of drinks considering it would be mostly locals in the pub or so I thought. Attached to the pub is a small restaurant, which seats about 18+ persons. There was a very good choice on the menu and was served by the barman. The barman thought we were far travelled when I mentioned I was from Coatbridge. The pub so impressed my wife and the surrounding village that she said she would like to move here and stay. The barman wished us to return when we were leaving. The overall impression was a very friendly atmosphere with no sense of hostility as I was not a local.
