Renowned as the pub in Trainspotting where Begbie launched an empty pint pot over his shoulder from the balcony onto the crowd below to start a fight, the interior looks larger in the film. It's not huge, but the balcony still exists and there is a pool table and darts board up there. There is a vaulted roof throughout and long windows giving it a chapel feel. The bar downstairs has 12 keg options including sparkling ciders and continental lager, but I'm not sure brewing takes place, there is a single Brewhaus tap offering a 3.4% Session Lager.Beer is served in dimple jugs ,to be consistent with the film.On the walls are prints of Begbie and the boys.
A striking feature here is the beer garden ,which is large and has glass pods, very useful in bad weather.Food is also served throughout sessions, and with modern leather bound drinking booths, flatscreens on mute and a decent soundtrack ,it's quite upmarket.Lots of student flats nearby which will supply a lot of custom ,much like the rest of the West End.The muzak was turned up,not necessary at noon.
Worth a visit if you like the film, this was a one pint stop where the jug was returned to the bar intact.

Great local pub, very reasonably priced beer and spirits. There is a fantastic pub quiz held every thursday night, football permitting.
Big Screen for live football, plus two additional wide screen TV's - what more could you want?
Best momentin the pub was finishing 2nd and claiming the half bottle one night, after drafting in two complete strangers to answer all the difficult questions!
