The Dreel Tavern is certainly atmospheric. But Covid rules here make visiting more of a chore than is necessary.
Have you booked was the first question. No was the answer. The pub was empty at this point. After track and trace, we were then told it was table service only.
After receiving my Ossian (the only beer on offer), I was going to settle up to avoid wasting time later, only to be told "you can pay at the end"! Sure enough, when ready to depart I had to go up to the bar to pay meaning I'd visited the bar twice, once more than I would normally have to and creating twice as many unnecessary interactions.
I'm sure common sense will filter through to this part of Scotland at some point. Nevertheless, this was a cosy and clearly an old place that is clearly focused on food.

This Tavern sit in the "Wester" side of Anstruther and 300 metres from the main shore side of the town. The Tavern takes its name from the Dreel Burn which run at the rear of the building. The building date from the 17th century and has plenty of low beams and stone floors and has a dark and atmospheric feel.

16th Century old coaching Inn,with oak beams, open fire and stone walls. There have been numerous apparent sightings of ghosts, and other spooky activities,I think some might be related to James V who once visited the pub.
