Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Southern Bar
Busy, narrow bar with two small side seating areas and the counter towards the rear. Mixed furniture and decor. Live music underway when I called in. In addition to numerous craft keg taps, three cask ales - including Hebrides Munro mild (£3.80) - were available on gravity. Not a stand-out, but one of many decent beer pubs in the area.

Old Boots left this review about The Southern Bar
Self-styled craft bar, the beers are sold from the new fangled boil in the bag system. No obvious way to differentiate between cask and keg for the stranger but if you ask the ones on the left are the cask. Ten taps each side, the presence of Belhaven Best and Singha (craft?) should have tipped me off which side was which but I was a little over-tired. The bar staff are just a little too pushy on the "what do you like- try a taster of this" front whereby you feel obliged to buy one of those offered, the one that may have been on too long and is being pushed, see also "managers/landlord choice". I did end up with a tired beer and the experience feels a bit like buying a filled bun in Subway. Physically it's two rooms split by floor level, the counter and bench/tall seating in the lower section and separate tables and chairs in the upper. Apart that is from the slightly odd burger bar styled area by the front door.

hondo . left this review about The Southern Bar
Sister pub to The Red Squirrel (Lothian Road)and Holyrood 9a(Holyrood Road).20 real ale,"craft" and keg taps set in the wall serve an eclectic selection. Food served. It makes a good triple header with The Cask And Barrel(southside) and Dagda.
