Slightly better laid out than on my previous visit many years ago. Inside retains a basic alehouse feel - wood floor, red lower servery and ceiling. Now sells Cornish Crown ales with three of theirs on. The Causeway was fine (NBSS 3) but the Porter was horrible and sharp (1), a lack of basic care. After performing my set-piece routine at the bar a new barrel went on and I got an exchange which was a bit flat (2.5). A technical GBG tick because small brewhouse I think. I was not over-impressed and didn’t feel motivated to complete the cask ale set. 6.5

A funny little corner local dead near the main shopping street but feels like a good mile away outside. The interior seems very spartan, looks like it's had a make-over from a nicotine-stained old boozer a couple of years back. The arrangements of furniture, as mentioned elsewhere, feels haphazard and rather cramped. Everyone can see your business as they're often no more than a couple of feet away from you and your beer. The cask itself is good - three ales on (a Skinners, Otter and Keltik Magik on my visit) which were certainly in decent nick - no complaints there. As also mentioned by RogerB, the bar layout isn't the best and it's hard to see what's on if busy. Whilst I (for 'I' read Mrs Quinno) appreciate the coffee machine, perhaps its best stored elsewhere? So to sum up, it's a strange little place. I certainly didn't feel too comfy in there and wouldn't fancy a session. The beer's good, the landlord seemed a decent lad and the place is clean but overall it just didn't click with me. Perhaps it needs time to bed in. I'll give it a 7 because at least the beer range is imaginative and good quality which would be just enough to draw me back in again. Rated 7

The Crown is the back streets tap for the Cornish Crown Brewery, and a justifiably busy pub, with a good crowd in most evenings, hosting events such as music nights and quizzes to keep the numbers up (so you may have to check the calendar if you fancy a quiet time there).
They offer 3 of their own ales over the handpumps and a several more on the keg taps. There's a good number of tables outside and the street sees little traffic, so makes a good alternative to the comfortable seating indoors.
Definitely a must visit for the beer lover who's made their way all the way down here and obviously popular with the natives as well.

This is a tiny corner local that is the Brewery Tap for the Cornish Crown brewery which I thought was one of the better Cornwall breweries. The bar room is tiny being little different in size to a micropub while the room at the rear has enough room for just two tables.
The four hand pumps on the bar had three from Cornish Crown, SPA, Porter & St Michaels plus VOG Decadence. I went for the SPA (£3.20) which was an excellent pint.
I liked this one and it's GBG 2016 listed.
