Cask was the Shared Thread, an oak cream session pale from Fyne Ales, the Northern Light blonde ale from the Orkney Brewery, Paolozzi Helles lager, the Sticky Toffee Pudding toffee stout from Vocation, Jarl from Fyne Ales, Old Speckled Hen, TT LL, Deuchars IPA from Caledonian, Citra Blonde Session Pale from Stewart Brewing and the Orkney Best from Swannay Brewery. Keg was Belhaven Best, Tennent's, Inch's, Guinness, Innis & Gunn lager, Staro, Hazy Jane & Peroni.

Nice traditional corner pub with U shaped bar counter off the wall opposite the entrance with traditional brass rails around the top and bottom of the bar counter. Plenty of brewery mirrors on the walls, with a suitably equivalent number of TV screens showing recorded action of the evening footy action. Variety of tables and seating options around the perimeter of the venue plus a large barrel table in the middle of the left most section of the floor space. Another venue that promotes its whiskey offering. Busy on late evening visit, but nicely so.

Expanded row of rooms on a corner, with a central curved bar counter. Five hand pumps either side of a pillar, those to the right being regulars (Old Speckled Hen, Landlord, Deuchars, Stewart Citra Blonde and Orkney Best) and on the left four guests. I went for Orkney Man O'Hoy, a 4.2% pale in very good condition (NBSS 3.5, £5.20/pint). Much quieter than the nearby Barony, with most of the customers about 30 years older than most of theirs.

Very good locals pub thats only just outside the City Centre. Tie it in with a walk over Calton Hill.

Corner, curved pub - with a central U shaped bar. Bench seating and tables all around. TVs with sport on but volume low.

Lots of cask choice - I can remember my usual TT Landlord on but when abroad, best to experiment with a perfect Swannay Scapa Special.

Lovely pub.
