A wide shallow interior with pillars supporting the ceiling. Basically splits into left hand side bar and right hand side foodie. 8 real ales,"craft keg and a good bottle selection. Double it up with the nearby diggers(athletic arms).

A long single storey barn-like room with dining at one end and drinking at a selection of kitchen tables or sofas at the other. Designer eyeware and sculpted haircuts mark this out as more than a bit trendy but it's worth "bearing with" as the eight pumps and the fridges do offer a good choice of beers from Scottish / north east English brewers and not in bad nick - it is GBG listed. The bottles are Euro/US and are well chosen. I had a Sofia from Out There Brewing which the staff were alert enough to warn me was a cloudy wheat beer, so full marks to the staff if not the beer. As is usual for Edinburgh the strengths were on the higher side of 4.5% and the strengths weren't shown on the blackboard which meant upsetting some bar-blockers to read the clips, so that's all good then. Trendy but not unbearably so would be my verdict, do fill your wallet before visiting as it's pricey even by Edinburgh standards at £3.95 a pint, more for the stronger beers.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Caley Sample Room
Strange-looking building in a somewhat out-of-the-way location. The inside has been refurbished in a modern gastro-pub style which seems slightly at odds with the area. The long, metal-topped bar has eight handpumps (with 6 on), offering real ales ranging from the local Deuchars IPA to Cairngorm Trade Winds (£3.20 and in good condition) and a couple from further afield. Several less usual draught lagers, plus many bottled beers from around the world too. Overall, well worth the trip out from the city centre.
