Possibly NOT the pub to take your maiden aunt to.
"Nae food, nae weans, bring yer dug" says the blackboard and that sums it up. Garish graffiti-style paintwork in toilets area and the outside is currently painted as a giant Scottish saltire.
That said, the staff and locals are friendly, and there is a wonderful collection of photographs and autographs adorning the walls. Beer prices are good.
Popular in the evenings (especially with sailors from the nearby naval base) and has a 2 a.m. licence, although an earlier 'entry curfew' is in place.
It is basic but much the better for that. New beer garden to rear. (Don't handle the tortoise, please.)
