David Ross left this review about Kelloholm Arms
Kelloholm is now, effectively, just a housing estate of Kirkconnel, rather than the separate mining village it originally was. The Kelloholm Arms is, consequently, more of a typical scheme pub than a typical village one. It is, at least to my eyes, an unattractive place, both outside and in, and the handful of customers present on the Saturday evening I visited all appeared to be locals. It has little to commend it, apart from the beer garden at the front. Despite sprouting weeds, it offers excellent views of the Southern Upland hills to the north of Kirkconnel. The bar has a TV, a pool table and a dart board and framed football shirts of both Celtic and Rangers suggest equality of support for both of Glasgow's Old Firm, although there are none from more local teams such as Queen of the South and Kilmarnock. There is also what used to be the lounge at the side (when I was last here about 30 years ago), although this now appears to operate more as a function suite. Prices are cheap, with a pint of Carling lager costing only £2.90. Belhaven Best, Belhaven Black, McEwan's 60 Shilling, Guinness and Strongbow cider are also on draught.
