Photo taken Friday 18.04.25. Just found out the Newmarket Bar’s opening times. Opened 4-11pm Thursday, 11am to 1pm Friday & Saturday, and 11am to 5pm Sunday. Also opens as a cafe 9am - 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9-7pm Friday to Sunday. See John O’Groats Journal online dated 10 March 2025. Times may vary though.

Now, happening, cool, add your own similar adjective here. Darkish and noisy with constant music, the walls are papered with pages from the NME, there are the usual screens and machines, stripy benches and flowery armchairs; bar stools with metallic seat coverings with a stone tiled floor. It actually seems a bit masculine with a pool table and minority sports on the screens, although it was early in the week when I was there. Only cold fizzy drinks plus wines and spirits on sale, usual beers with the addition of Tennants, Grolsch and Tartan. Friendly staff and the punters were mainly young men playing pool. The toilets are labelled Surfer Girls and Surfer Crossing and have swirly patterned seats.
