Nothing has changed since Blackthorns visit apart from the outside being spruced up. See new pic. There is also a yard with a few tables.

A prominent street corner pub in a residential area between Winterstoke Road and the North Street strip, it’s not quite as big inside as you might think from looking at it, although it perhaps felt smaller on a recent Monday evening visit as it was full to capacity with a darts match in progress.

It’s a single room, L-shaped pub with the servery going around the inside corner in the middle of the L. Opposite on the outside corner was a raised area with the darts board and next to this was a small fire-place with a wood burning stove and a trophy shelf. Paintwork was a mixture of cream and an unusual shade that was something like deep salmon as well as some khaki green behind the bar. A area housing a pool table at the far end looked a lot tattier as though it had been forgotten when the rest of the pub was spruced up.

Beers on tap were Courage Best, Doom Bar and Bass whilst ciders were Thatcher’s Gold and Blackthorn.
