Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Balgarth
The Balgarth Pines is quite a large pub/restaurant set in extensive grounds to the south of Ayr town centre and close to all of the town's Robert Burns attractions. At first glance, it looks big enough to be a hotel, but I don't believe they offer accommodation.
The bar/restaurant is set over a couple of the rooms to the rear of the building and is quite modern in style. Despite it being a midweek afternoon, there were quite a few people still eating, primarily family groups. However, there was at least one person just in for a drink.
Real ale has disappeared here and the choice is only keg - Tennent's Lager & Caledonia Best, Menabria, Inveralmond Ossian, Guinness, Magners, Heverlee & Drygate Disco Forklift Truck.
I can't say that I was really enamoured with this place.
