Despite the closure of the nearby Old Racecourse Hotel, there seems to be a profusion of these hotel bars/restaurants on the southside of Ayr. Thankfully, this was a much more welcoming place than our previous stop, the Chestnuts Hotel.
It is a fine building in a leafy area of the town. Inside, it feels quite grand. We drank in the small but perfectly formed Copper Bar, which unsurprisingly has plenty of copper. The barmaid serving us was friendly. Outside seating seemed popular, with most customers enjoying the sunshine.
Despite featuring in the Good Beer Guide as recently as 2022, they ceased serving real ale last year. The keg choice was Beavertown Neck Oil & Gamma Ray, Moretti, Red Stripe, Belhaven Best, Cruzcampo, McEwan's 80'-, Guinness or Inch's.

Friendly hotel bar, open to the general public as well as residents. A little old fashioned, but neat & tidy with a well kept real ale
