The Empire Bar, Belfast

I asked the friendly bouncer who was standing on the steps outside the Empire which bar was the better. He informed me that the top of the building is for paid events, so I descended down to the lower bar. Through the entrance is a wooden screen and the to the left is some raised seating that runs up to the bar on the left rear wall. To the right is higher raised seating that runs down the length of the right hand wall. In the centre of the pub are some standard tables and chairs on what would be the dance floor if a band was playing on the stage at the rear. During a recent midweek visit live football was being shown via a projector screen. Standard keg is available from the bar and I found the service to be polite. I think the Belfast Empire Music Hall’s heyday has long gone, but it was still a comfortable spot to have a beer. This may not be the case at weekends though.
