Soup Dragon left this review about Newton Inn
This is a terraced GBG pub, with patio area. Formerly called the Ship & Castle, it is a hybrid of the Georgian and Victorian. It has three storeys, the lower of which has bay windows flanking the central entrance. It is in white render. with black paintwork, including quoins. The interior has an open plan front room that is in white and brick, with an ornate fireplace. It has a few ornaments and plates, as well as prints on the walls - this, along with the piano give a nice traditional feel. The TV was on, silently, with daytime programmes, detracting from that feel a little - the music was soft and general. The service was fine and a few people were in. Beer; usual tap stuff with Doombar, Bombardier, Young's Bitter and a decent enough Timothy Taylor Landlord on handpull. A nice, solid pub. One I would return to.
