Station pub, so in we went for a swift half before the train. Dull and opened-out to the point of death inside though the décor was at least in good order. Weird layout with an odd drinking ledge smack-bang in the middle of the pub. Pool and darts on offer. Inevitably a fizz-only place, so I decided to break my duck on the Madri which I’d seen numerous times locally but never tried – it was surprisingly palatable here. Servery staffed by an old skool barmaid who looked like she’d seen it all - cloth-eared but good fun, took more interest in us as customers than I’d ever expect in this sort of venue. 4.5

Feb 2013;- The Red Lion is Port Talbots premiere "Live Music" pub and seems to be on a mission to improve this aspect constantly. It is located literally besides the main Port Talbot Railway Station such that it shares a number of spaces in the car park. At the time of writing the only negative would be the limited amount of barfood available although it does do free meals during big sport events. Ok its strengths well the staff are consistent and the beer is good. Its well priced also. Only pint above £3 is Guinness which is £3.Age group well for once it seems to be everybody. Some bands bring along their followers and can be in the 18 age group and other times there is a very mixed crowd mainly I would guess around the 18-70 age group (haha) . Lately the pub inside has started to look a bit like Port Talbots Hard Rock Cafe and recently a Ska Festival was held at the venue with a great band made up of the Legendary Specials guitarist Roddy Radiation, Mark Harry and 2Rude, The Riff, Dick Dastardly, The Somethings, Cherry Hive, and The Side Effects.
