Large single story, modern pub on a busy road with a wraparound garden (bit of a stretch to call it a garden) with picnic benches. Gets busy especially in nice weather. The bar is against the back wall by the entrance with serving space on the three sides. The area around the bar is bare boards with the main areas either side of it carpeted. Tables are regular pub tables and food seems popular here. In fact, the place seems to attract a lot of families and there is a grassy area out the very back without tables for kids to play football. Ceilings seem v low with anaglypta covering. TV’s dotted around the place showing Olympics and evening racing with no sound. Instead, music at a very low / background level. There is a big pull-down projector screen in one corner presumably for big sporting occasions. Bigly attended quiz on Tuesdays apparently.
Only keg on offer during my visit. Mostly lager (Stella, Coors, Bud Light, Carling, Peroni & Madri), with Strongbow, Guinness and Brains Smooth . Nothing remotely craft here! Three hand pumps, two had Old Rosie and Doom Bar clips turned around with the third unclipped. Suspect cask is offered here but probably not rushing to change the barrel I would expect when one runs out.
This is the only pub in Pentwyn and the only one certainly within a half mile radius of here. Pulls the locals in which is great that they have this important community asset. Not great on my beer preference but what they sell here is what they sell here!
