Large venue with bar focal point as you enter the venue. Seating all around the bar in booths, banquettes, regular tables and chairs. Quite a bit of wood panelling on the carpeted area off to the left-hand side leading out into the small outside seating area. In many respects this does feel like a classy hotel bar. The venue also had a skittle alley and a dedicated darting area. Lots of screens showing the Olympics suggesting this place is a popular venue for showing live sport generally. It was busy and lively on my visit. It also seemed like a venue that people would head to to dine also with a steady stream of food heading from the kitchen to people dotted around the venue.
Cask offerings were Brains bitter and Brains SA, with two hand pumps not used. Keg choices were a fairly standard for a Brains venue of lagers (San Miguel, Carlsberg, Carling, Cruz, Moretti, Stella and their own Bayside lager), ciders ( original Strongbow and Inch’s but no flavoured version, whatever will any Gen Z or Millenial that ventures in here think), Barry Island IPA, Guinness and Brains Smooth IPA.
Brains have some decent venues that are enjoyable venues to spend some time in. Not a super-fan of their beers, but better than some other large scale breweries offerings.
