Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Grange

A bit of an oasis in an area with few pubs (let alone good ones). The public bar on the corner and the larger lounge / dining area (at a slightly higher level) have both been substantially refurbished but have yet kept a semi-traditional look. Attractive patio garden down a flight of steps at the back. Glastonbury's Thriller cappuccino porter available from one of the three handpumps on each counter, in addition to the usual couple of Wye Valley ales: Butty Bach and the seasonal Deuce (£5.50) on this occasion.

Two bar counter venue but each side offers same two cask ales, Wye Valley Butty Bach and a dark amber ale called Rack & Roll from the Fine-Tuned Brewery from two dispensing and two non-dispensing hand pumps. Keg options were Madri, Carling, Stowford Press, Dr Grange Love from local brewery Crafty Devil, Staro, 1985 lager, Thatchers Haze, Titanium a West Coast IPA from Quantick Brewing, Henry Weston's Vintage cider, Guinness and Two Stepping craft lager from Hop Step Brewery.

I entered on the right-hand side of the venue into a well-worn, bare boarded venue with this side of the bar counter on the left-hand side of this part. There were a couple of regular tables and chairs just inside the entrance and then a long leather padded banquette along the right-hand wall with regular tables in front thereof. A dart board took pride of place against the rear wall. The side that would be accessed from the left-hand entrance was similarly configured and the bar counter this side also offer tall stool seating at the bar, but no dart board here. Additionally, the was the same style leather padded banquette along the front window. I spotted another room at the back of the pub that was occupied by a few diners, but the busyness was all in the front part of the pub. This led to an outside seating area, but the doors were shut on my visit mid evening. Not a bad option around here.

Fairly basic local pub in the Grangetown area of Cardiff, which was the last Cardiff pub for me to visit in the Good Beer Guide. There are 2 fairly large rooms with a corridor to the rear leading to the toilets.

I opted for the room entered from the corner of the pub. I suspect the second room has its own separate entrance, or you can pass between the two at the rear. For some reason, many of the tables had reserved signs on them. As such, I was forced to take a stool at the bar instead. It didn't appear the sort of place where people would reserve tables for a meal. I guessed that maybe it was quiz night later on, especially as there was a lady occupying one table with a laptop. Perhaps she was the quizmaster?

No longer being tied to Brains, Wye Valley Butty Bach is the regular beer. There was just one guest beer on this occasion, which was Hop Union Maiden Voyage. However, bar staff were pulling another one through. Craft beers were Crafty Devil Fairytale of Cardiff & Mikey Rayer All Dayer, Wye Valley 1985 & New Bristol The Joy of Sesh. There was no real cider.

This pub is a little way out of Cardiff city centre and to be honest, I wouldn't necessarily look to seek it out again.
