The Flora, Cardiff

Vibrant pub in the Cathays (ie Cardiff Uni) part of town. First thing i noticed on arrival, other than it was busy (and not just with students) was the food venue was decent. Apparently they do a really good Sunday roast here so will be back.
There was a beer garden out the back, so typically Wales, as soon as the rain started falling everyone piled outside. Inside the look is a bit distressed. Old painted door bottoms adorning the right angled bar as you walk though the front door, itself quite imposing.

However, the beer range is v disappointing. Thought there would be a lot more craft here (given I never expected and cask). Erdinger Weissbier about as exotic as available here. So it was a default Guinness but given the weather JE’s me feel early autumn and nights turning in it felt quite appropriate.

I guess the beer range is driven by what sells and what the usual clientele expect. Given the usual clientele is students, I feel depressed in that our future don’t have higher beer expectations. Wasn’t even as though there were some AF options on draught, in which case I would have doffed my cap!
