Visited 27/01/25. Visited previously as Proud Mary on 20/01/23.
No cask (again) and keg range was Lowenbrau, Jubel peach lager, Inch's cider, Tiny Rebel Clwb Tropica, Moretti, Camden Pale Ale, Madri, Heineken, Guinness, Corona, Kopparberg strawberry & lime cider.
This is a large venue with front entrance of St Mary St and the back accessed via Brewery Quarter. Ostensibly it is a long quite narrow rectangle with the bar counter along the left-hand wall albeit the front and rear is broken by a space for some tall tables and tall stools. There is a lot of booth seating in the window on the right-hand side of the venue and some regular seating in the slightly raised area opposite the bar in the front. The lighting is pretty "party" and music is a big thing here (as it was in the previous incarnation) with live stuff and non-live stuff piped when not live stuff. Definitely high octane. A lot of screens in here also but just advertising the upcoming quiz this evening on my early Monday evening visit. Bare boarded throughout apart from the tiled skirt along the length of both bar counters. Whilst the blurb says, "Glaswegian Bar”, I managed to have my pint here without getting into an argument over something trivial, didn't consume any Buckfast, and didn't get challenged over weeny hint of dark blue or mixture of green and white in my clothing! I like this place and so until next time it is "see you Jimmy".

The Yard is situated fairly close to Cardiff's train station.
This was the first pub i bumped into on my Brains crawl of Cardiff, once inside the pub seemed quite modern,it went back quite a way and there was a mix of seating types.
The pub is a Brains tied house, there were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Brains bitter which went down pretty quickly after my long train journey from Nottingham, the other beers were Brains Dark and Brains SA.
There were doormen outside the pub on my dinner visit, because there was a lower league play off game Lincoln city v a northern club i car'nt remember the name of.
This was a decent enough pub to start my crawl from.
