Blackthorn _ left this review about Dragon House Hotel
This is a strange place. There’s a L-shape bar off to the right, and a smaller square bar just next to the entrance passageway. The main area is off to the left and this seems to be more geared up for dining. On a recent Friday night visit, the two right hand bars were deserted. We approached the bar counter at which point the landlord picked up a couple of menus and asked if we had reserved a table. Errr, who said anything about eating? As we weren’t, and didn’t fancy sitting on our own, we made our excuses and left.
Undeterred, we tried again the following night. On this occasion the main left hand bar had a private function in it, and the L-shaped bar had been pressed in to service as a dining area. We were therefore left with the small middle bar, and we were again on our own. The music from the wedding party was piped through to here, rather too loudly, so we had no choice but to listen to a succession of cheesy 70’s disco hits.
The small bar we were in had little in the way of atmosphere or indeed anything else for that matter. It was unusually empty in the middle, possibly the tables and chairs had been moved elsewhere. There were some exposed stone walls which were pleasant enough and a couple of large upright benches around the perimeter, one of which was completely obscuring what may well have been an attractive fireplace.
The solitary beer on tap was Rev. James, and the only cider was Kingston Press.
