A busy canal side pub as described below, whose main customer base seems to be canal users and tourists. It certainly didn’t feel like a local pub, more like a Marston’s outlet on steroids, our first visit was enjoyable, our second was not. Ales on were Hop Twister from Salopian, Proper Job and Rhymney Export Light. My Hop Twister was in excellent condition, but time didn’t allow us to try the others. There was a basic keg range, including one unusual one, Ffresh Juicy Pale Ale. Food was standard modern pub stuff, slightly over priced for the area, good enough for what is was. OK to stop if passing, and I’d be happy to spend a few hours here if using the canal, though it does get annoying with loud tourists and screaming families at busy times, and I’d avoid if they’re having an outside party

Agree, nice looking white washed canal side pub with comfortable traditional pub interior with beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls including some nice large fireplaces, plenty of pub bric a brac to add character and then an unusual stone faced bar serving area. And then a very nice external garden at the back jutting up to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
We entered virtually the moment it opened and were literally the first people in, so the service levels we experience were probably not representative of normal activity. Anyway didn’t see anything that says this one should be recommended if you are strolling along the canal.
Three hand pumps on the bar and along with Draught Bass, Wye Valley Butty Bach and Romney Brewery Hobby Horse and the half of Butty Bach I had to fuel the first leg of the canal walk back to Brecon was perfectly fine.

An attractive whitewashed stone pub adjacent to the canal. The main bar is off to the right, which then leads to a long restaurant area. The walls are mostly exposed brickwork, and it is carpeted throughout giving a plush appearance. There are beams on the ceiling, some comfy padded armchairs and some leather bench seating around the perimeter. The bar itself is stone built which is an unusual feature.

The smaller bar off to the left is dominated by a pool table. The landlady was very friendly, and said that they were planning a beer festival for July. There is also a pleasant and good sized beer garden immediately adjacent to the canal.

Beers on tap were Dorothy Goodbody’s and Rhymney’s Scrum V. Ciders were Stowford Press and Strongbow.
