One of Brain's hotels, located in a prominent position in the centre of town. Entering through various lounges, the fairly modern bar extends off behind the reception desk, with a handy courtyard area to the side. I didn't find the games area mentioned below, so not sure if that is still there. The range of Brain's beers is quite good though, with Bitter, SA, Rev James, Rev James Gold and a special on.

The Wellington Hotel is an 18 bedroom hotel in the centre of Brecon and is reputed to be one of the oldest buildings in this market town. It is located on the main town square overlooking the statue of the Duke of Wellington and from the outside is a very impressive building with its position and very attractive three story white Georgian facade dating back to 1854.
The ground floor houses the main hotel bar and dining room and these have a modern decor and seemed quite comfortable. However anyone thinking of staying here should consult Trip advisor first as according to people here, the modern decor may not extend above the bar and restaurant section.
You enter onto the short end of a large L shaped bar serving section and the bar itself stretches back to the right hand side through several distinct comfortable seating sections until you get to a games section with pool table and large sports screen at the far end. And then there is a separate square dining room section to the left.
Run by Brains there are three hand pumps on either section of the bar and these were dispensing Brains Bitter, SA and Reverend James, and the Rev James seemed an OK pint, although it is always a bit difficult to tell when you have to drink out of the compulsory plastic glasses during the Brecon festival and Fringe.
