This is a nice little roadside pub, just across the river from Brecon in the adjoining village of Llanfaes. There are exposed beams and joists in natural wood, and with the bar and floorboards also being in light coloured wood there is a modern feel to the place. This is emphasised by the furniture and decor. The mid-afternoon drinkers, who I took to be locals, were a talkative bunch. There were two hand pumps at the far end of the bar, with 9 Lives Gold and Greene King IPA: not the most awe-inspiring of offerings, but at least the 9 Lives was in good condition. As this was the first pub that I'd found to be open since setting out three hours previously, I was glad to be here, and by the same token I dare say I wouldn't mind popping in again.

I went to the Drovers at 10pm on Friday night as a recce for our canoe club. It is the nearest pub to the bunkhouse we stayed at.
The two beers were undrinkable. I had a Wye Valley bitter that was sour. My son had the Brains beer was almost as bad. I left most of my pint.
It was the first and last time in this pub. If the landlord was on holiday he need to ensure his substitute knows what he is doing.
Sheer incompetence or laziness meant that 20 thirsty and hungry paddlers did not book in for a meal and drinks on Saturday evening.

Nice little local community pub about a half of a mile walk from the Ship Street bridge in Brecon. Mainly a one bar pub around a central bar with several TV screens dotted about. And then a small dining room to one end of the bar. And then a nice small secluded patio garden at the back of the pub. Almost empty when we visited, probably due to the post Brecon Fringe effect and there were two Real Ales available in the shape of the Brecon Brewery Welsh Pale Ale and SA from Brains.
Nice enough if you have to be passing , but couldn’t really recommend the walk from town for this one over some of the pubs available in the centre of Brecon.
