This St Austell pub is well described by Soupie below; I would add that there is a tiny enclosed yard to one side used as a smoking area and that the floor is a little uneven in places. Excellent food using local ingredients where possible, seafood is a speciality, but the catering administration was very disorganised and it took a long time for food to arrive. It was, however, worth the wait. There were four ales on, all from St Austell, all in very good condition. The pub is dog friendly, the staff are welcoming and the locals a mixed bag. I'd be delighted to come back here and eat, provided I wasn't in a hurry, and their beer makes it worth spending an evening here.

A quayside St Austell pub and eatery that is accessed at first floor level via a staircase. It is actually a slight dog-leg in shape and the pub is predominantly in undressed stone, with some white render. as a Villa fan, I was endeared to the pub when the window frames and lintels, along with the pub name proved to be in claret and blue paintwork. There is a patio area.
The interior has two rooms. The stairs take you into the straight bar room with the serving bar facing you. The decor has white walls, white, wood and beam ceiling and a red patterned carpet, along with an nice undressed stone fireplace. Boat and sea pictures decorate the walls and there are a few settles along with general chairs, stools and tables. There is also a dartboard. Through a doorway in the corner and up a few steps is the other room, which is for dining but has a serving bar at the end. This room is also in white and wood, with sea pictures, but has dining tables and chairs. We ate here and we found the food to be decent. There was a TV, but this wasn't on and there was no background music. The service both as a pub and for eating was very good (we returned to eat after a swift beer visit before getting the ferry to Fowey) and the clientele consisted of a few holidaymakers earlier on, but it was a lot busier later on.
Beer; usual tap stuff with a good choice of St Austell beers on handpull; Tribute, Proper Job, Trelawny and a very good Tinners.
Great beers, nice view, good service, decent food - it seems to me that most people should get something from this place. I certainly would return - really worth a visit.
