This country pub felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. However, there's clearly a few people that know about it, as it was fairly busy on our late Friday afternoon visit. Listed in the 2024 Good Beer Guide, this was my favourite pub on our visit to Cornwall.
Entering the pub through an outdoor patio area, most of which is undercover, you enter the pub through a kind of reception area which is in fact a games room with table football, board games and young children's toys. There are also book available to purchase here for the princely sum of 50p. Off to the left is an attractive conservatory which appears to be a dining room. This room has lots of plants and pictures of greenery on the walls.
Passing on through the games room to the main bar, you are immediately struck by a busy blackboard above the bar. It lists a couple of categories - acceptable topics to discuss in the pub, such as cricket, beer, girl talk and the parish council and then topics that are banned, such as Brexit, McDonald's, the price of a pint, ULEZ and Love Island.
Beams throughout the bar area are covered with pumpclips, whilst most of the tables were reserved for later dinner reservations.
On the bar, there are 4 handpulls clipped with Penzance Crows-An-Wra, Treen's Classic & a local cider called The Coxswain's Own from Gweal Mellin. The fourth handpull was unclipped. Verdant People Money Space Time was the craft beer & Thatcher's Gold was the draft cider. The local cider was very palatable.
Advertised events in the pub included Wednesday jam nights, bridge on Thursday and something called Drink & Draw, also on a Thursday. Locally made ice cream was also for sale.
The barmaid and customers all seemed friendly here. With very little to fault it, I thought this was a good all-round pub away from all other forms of civilisation.

Splendid establishment which feels like a very old pub but actually developed from a guest house many years ago. Tucked away on the side of a small wooded valley down narrow lanes, it has a wonderfully rural feel. There are a number of different areas including a main bar room, a bistro/restaurant and a side extension, with an eclectic mix of furnishings and ornaments but mainly lots of woodwork giving a great aged atmosphere. The food has a deservedly good reputation and includes much fresh local produce. There is various accommodation available including glamping. Beers included Penzance Number 9 and Atlantic and were very drinkable. All in all, worth the struggle to get to it and difficult to leave.

This pub is worth going to just to travel on the 35 bus that runs from Helston to Falmouth via Constantine where you get off to walk to Nancenoy and the pub. Locals got me onto the back road which peters out to a narrow traffic free lane, then over a style and a lovely walk between tall hedgerows down to Nancenoy road. The pub is certainly worth the visit too and we had superb food and beer sitting outside. Bacon and Brie Ciabatta with chips and salad with Skinners Royal Wave and Penzance Potion No 9. Multi roomed with a conservatory and a couple of outside seating areas. It does have a large car park too. Will return here.
