Large whitewashed stone building with commanding views over the valley, shame it was too dark to get the full vista. Quite traditional inside and not too opened out, with a mix of areas and styles. Overarching decor is red and white walls with modern wattle and daub style walls. Five ales on; Gower Gold (very good nick, if slightly too cold), Black Sheep Monty Python, Doom Bar, GK IPA and Grey Trees Drummer Boy, served up by a genuinely friendly barmaid. Was offered the choice of pump or gravity for my ale – not often you see that! Traditional pub grub available, my parents would like the menu here. Overall it’s an excellent excuse to divert off the M4.

Great lunch stop just off the M4.
We selected the Angel Inn due to decent reviews on trip advisor and its proximity to junction 37 of the M4 and it did not disappoint.
An imposing white stone building set slightly back from the road. Internally it is a two bar set up with large stone walls, wooden beams and a decent traditional pub decor with plenty of historic local prints and pictures on sale from local artists to give the place character.
The smaller left-hand bar is dog friendly, but we utilise the large right hand side which is mainly aligned for dining.
The food menu is traditional pub fare at reasonable price levels and certainly could not fault for dishes we had and with the total bill for four mains plus drinks coming to just over£50 was fine for what we had.
Only two Ales were on and one being the ubiquitous Doombar.
Fortunately the other was a decent pint of Gower Brewery Gower Gold which was offered both from the hand pump or from the barrel.
The Angel Inn hit the spot for a lunch break after a long drive and will certainly not hesitate to look it up again next time.
