Our final pub of the night in Gwent was this Good Beer Guide-listed pub located in Usk's main square. This is one I hadn't previously visited but despite having a nice and cosy interior, I didn't really warm to it. In fact, of the 5 I've visited in the town, I've yet to find one I really like.
With a few benches to the front, the entrance is directly into a long corridor with the bar immediately to the left and a snug to the right. Towards the rear of the corridor is a dining room on the left and toilets on the right.
The bar had a slate floor and a couple of TVs, one showing football. A sign on the bar stated that last orders on a Sunday would now be at 9pm. The barman/landlord took a look at the time when we walked in. Luckily, the bar was reasonably busy and despite it being after 8pm, we were still within plenty of time. I've had bad experiences of not being served on a Sunday evening in Usk previously. Ironically around 10 minutes after we sat down, a coach party of locals returning from a cricket match pulled up outside and the dozen or so who came in were also served without any issue!
For a Good Beer Guide pub, the cask ale choice is a little restrictive. The permanent beers are Wye Valley Butty Bach & Butcombe Adam Henson's Rare Breed. Ciders were Aspall's & Inch's.

Nice compact place with rooms off a central corridor. GBG listed with two ales, Wye Valley Butty and a Butcombe Rare Breed which was freezing cold but palatable (NBSS 3). Friendly staff and punters. 6.5
