A traditional looking pub in the centre of Tenby, it’s adorned with a number of hanging baskets which make it look quite attractive, although is probably also fairly essential as many other nearby hostelries follow a similar approach. A courtyard garden is at the rear, although this didn’t have much in the way of ambience or outlook.
Inside it follows something of a nautical theme as may be expected with a sailboat on the ceiling and even the bar counter resembling a large wooden boat. Wood is used extensively with a wood strip floor, wood slatted blinds on the windows and what seems to be a large tree trunk in the top bar. Elsewhere was some exposed stone walling and a fire-place with wood burning stove. A plasma screen was showing the tennis. The upper bar was the smaller of the two with the lower level perhaps more geared for eating with all the tables having red and white or blue and white chequered tablecloths. We didn’t inspect the menu, but it appeared to be the cheap and cheerful sizzling variety.
Beers on tap were Tenby Ale and Doom Bar, whilst ciders were Strongbow and Stowford Press.

Another of the pubs close to the main square in the centre of Tenby.
Internally it’s a bit of a strange place with a nautical theme going on. It looks quite small when you enter, but actually stretches back some way at a lower level down to a little secluded beer garden at the back.
As you enter the first section has the small, boat shaped bar, around which is half a dozen tables, an open fire, and a couple of fruit machines. Then you step down a few steps into a larger wooden floored second section with more tables and chairs and mainly set for dining, and then beyond this is the small beer garden.
I quite liked the Lifeboat as it had a nice feel to it and there was Hancocks HB on hand pump, which I hadn’t seen in any other Brains pub on this trip. It seems to attract a younger clientele, but these were more student types than the ‘erberts across the road in the Tenby House on the evening of my visit.
