Has had (yet another) refurb which has removed the last vestiges of internal character. Two cask pumps unused, Mantle Moho in bottles being the default option. The dartboard is still there, so we loosed-off a few arrows, as tradition demanded.
June 2014
Originally a two-roomed backstreet pub with a lounge and public bar, this has now been stripped out and the place is basically a late-night (3am!) drinking emporium. Carries a couple of ales, but they don't know how to look after them (last week's Doom Bar was pedestrian). The dart board used to be very good but is now losing its stuffing. The pool table can be booked hours in advance by sessionists. Rated 6

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Castle Hotel
Corner pub with two feature entrances (one not in use). The interior may have had some interest but has been opened out at some stage, with just two substantial iron columns remaining in the area in front of the counter. Limited decor, and furniture and pool table mostly moved aside in readiness for live music when I visited. Lager than Life from Bragdy Oast House (£3.50), Pig Iron Blonde and Hand Brake cloudy cider available from three of six handpumps.
