York’s CAMRA Pub of the Year 2024, this pub dates from the late 18th century, the interior the late 19th, run by a couple who’ve owned the pub since 2008, further history available on their website, but the Magnet legends to the etched windows are an indication of former Tetley ownership.
The interior has several rooms, one with a bar billiards table, darts also.
There were five pumps, my half of Neptune Selkie nice, served by a friendly person.
This is a very nice pub, but I’m not quite sure what the Farrow & Ball hipster colour scheme brings to the party.

Tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood by the city walls,this is a multiroom pub in a traditional layout.the tap room is immediately right off the corridor which itself has a servery and a few chairs,while the back room has a side snug with a bar billiards table and a darts board although you may need to shift some furniture to access the games.The walled beer garden is a sun trap and the overall affect is heritage with some good etched glass.
On my trip the ale range was TT Landlord (regular),Neptune Selkie (NBSS 3.5),Turning Point Dayglow Drift,Ilkley Promise and Wold Top Sun Drench which proved a decent range.Another pub you must place on any crawl list of the city centre.

A splendid beer exhibition pub tucked just inside the city walls in a residential area. Deservedly popular with local CAMRA and a frequent award-winner. It retains a proper historic pub feel, as opposed to the usual tourist traps - describing the interior again is a waste of time as it doesn't really change, apart from the ever-increasing collection of pump clips behind the bar. TT Landlord is the regular ale but you are pretty well guaranteed an interesting choice of changing brews.
