Like Alan mentioned this pub has been refurbished in a more modern style than pubs out of town usually are but this didn't help attract any different customers (or any in fact) as this was the least busy of all the pubs we went to in clifton (also possibly because it is the most expensive). They are trying to position themselves as a slightly more up market place to drink compared to the mare and clifton hotel but it seems they are missing their target audience as this is a very student heavy working class area of the city.
There were two real ales on the bar, Black Sheep Bitter and Doombar but unfortunately the Black sheep had a glass on the handle signiling it was off so i was made to suffer a Doombar at £3.40 which was nicely kept but a tad on the cool side but fairly enjoyable non the less. Of all the pubs in clifton I would probably pick this one as it did the best kept beer although every other category (price, decor and choice) it does not excel in. Most would be visiting some of the pubs in and around Bootham 10 mins walk away close to the center.

This pub looked fairly decent but once i went in here it was not what i was thought it would be like it had been done up in the modern style with bare boards and the crap furniture that goes with it,this didnt seem right for a pub in the suburbs.
I was the only customer in mid saturday afternoon and to make things worse there was no real ale available it was John Smiths smooth or a Guinness which i had.
