A bit more than two miles from my house, and with no convenient public transport either, the Sheaf View is less visited by me than I would like. The beer is always in excellent condition, and there are usually four hand pumps with beers from Neepsend Brewery, plus four guests and real ciders. (The brewery is the other side of town, but this pub used to be in the same ownership and there is probably some sort of deal which keeps the beers even though the ownership has changed.) I had North Riding US Session Pale, which was an easy NBSS 4, and when that ran out I went for Neepsend Blonde, which is a less impressive beer but in very good condition (NBSS 3.5 to 4). I was last here on Boxing Day 2023 when Luton Town were here to play Sheffield United, and the same fixture was today, though the pub was noticeably quieter. For away fans this is far enough from the stadium in Bramall Lane to not be "home fans only", but an easy enough 15 minute walk (turn sharp right on exiting the pub and go down the hill; cross the river, go under the railway, cross the main road at the lights and follow the crowds to the ground).

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Sheaf View
Nowadays, you would need a really vivid imagination to imagine you could see the river from here (although it is just down the bottom of the hill), but it is quite an imposing 3½-storey building benefiting from its position beside the leafy Heeley People's Park. You enter the bar by a corner door but the room turns out to be larger than the fenestration would suggest, and further seating is available in a conservatory area and out in the beer garden. Great selection of real ales from the two banks of four handpumps, including three from Neepsend, Night Jar School Night, Cross Bay 'The Bitter' Vesper (£1.40, half), Horbury Tiramisu, Whim Armadillo and Imperial 1650. Well worth seeking out, and I'll certainly be back after this first flying visit.

In a slighly scruffy part of Sheffield, the Sheaf View is an impressive pub and very well worth the effort to find.It is dedicated to decent real ale and there is also a big selection of craft keg beers and bottled beers. The high ceiling and open plan interior give an airy feel to the pub,and it is clearly popular with locals and CAMRA members alike. The 8 handpumps were drawing Imperial Pithead Bitter (good nick, very reasonable at £2.40),Blue Bee Landed Up IPA,Milton Pegasus,Springhead Maid Marion,Thwaites Stolen IPA,Acorn Blonde & Old Moor Porter and Kelham Island Easy Rider,a decent and varied selection across a number of styles and strengths. The top price for a pint was £2.70 for a strong IPA.Nice.
I would seek this place out again,it deserves to be popular.
