Will Larter left this review about The Railway
A rather plain building, with rendered stone walls, beside the long disused railway line to Manchester via Woodhead tunnel.Inside, the original multi-roomed layout is still apparent although most walls have been replaced by RSJs. The bar is centrally placed and features four hand pumps. On my visit there were just two ales on, both from Bradfield Brewery. I had Farmers Bitter, the other beer was Farmers Blonde.
The room to the right of the entrance has a nice fireplace with mantelpiece, clock and a painting of a woodland scene that could have come straight from someone's front room. To the left is a room that has been opened out to be now little more than an alcove, with pictures of 1950s film stars, including a very beautiful Liz Taylor. To the rear, a number of locals were enjoying their Sunday afternoon, with the commentary and crowd noise from a rugby match in the background.
