My first visit since the pub changed hands, now being run by the same people as the Rutland Arms and the Crow Inn, if memory serves. It's had a lick of paint and is looking a lot more welcoming and vibrant, which I was just going to say was helped by the background music, but then the barman cancelled I Saw Her Standing There from the Beatles first LP and substituted something dreadful from the 90s. There are a dozen keg beers, listed as such on entering, with the modest cask offering of seven listed on a board further back, and sharing the 10 hand pumps with a handful of ciders. If anyone has been here and said they're never going back because it's too grungy and miserable, think again.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Harlequin
Corner pub with eye-catching graphics on the signage and name boards. Once inside, you find a traditional (if quite plain) L-shaped bar and another seating area down a few steps at the back. There is a total of 13 handpumps on four different parts of the polygonal counter, although only four of these were in use on my Sunday evening visit. I found three cask ales from Jolly Boys - Jolly Yorkshire Bitter, Supa-Citra (£4.20) and Jolly Colliers Porter - plus RedWillow's Head Less.

This didn't make my original list of pubs to visit while in town but I ended up in here one late evening and quite glad I did . It was deceptivly roomy inside and fairly well attended giving it a good pubby buzz. There was plenty of beer choice and my pint of Red Willow Headless was in great shape. Enjoyable.
