The best looking of the three handsome pubs around Woodhouse's market area, and on my brief experience the one that attracts the most custom. No real ale, but the two or three dozen drinkers in here at about 3pm on a Saturday didn't seem to mind that; even me, although my half of keg Stones Bitter was nothing to write home about. There were couples or groups of friends at almost very table, and the conversation flowed. Was I the only one watching the racing on the TV? There seemed to be a screen on every wall, and there are still plenty of walls despite quite a few having been replaced by RSJs. The bar counter is on the left hand side, and there's plenty of light through the bay windows even in January. I couldn't help liking it here, despite the absence of any real ale, and I was tickled to see that there was what looked like a hugely enlarged 19th century map of the area on the ceiling of what would have been the entrance lobby before the walls all disappeared. I can't remember if I've written a review of any Craft Union pubs before, but either way this is the best of that pub group that I've been in.

Alan Winfield left this review about The George Inn
The George is a distinctive looking stone built pub.
Once inside the pub has been opened out,the bar is on the left side, this area was bare boarded and had tall tables and chairs, the front area on this side had bench seating and chairs, the right side was split into two halfs by a wall and large fireplace which served both halfs, these areas were carpeted and had comfy bench seating and chairs.
There were three pumps on the bar all unclipped but two of them had signs saying beers being conditioned,if they car'nt get a beer conditioned for a Saturday there is a problem somewhere.
There were two keg bitters on the bar,i had a drink of John Smiths smooth crap which it was,the other beer was Tetley smooth.
The pub was far too quiet for my liking with no music or TVs on.
This could be a decent pub with a couple of real ales on and a bit of music.
