Aptly named if you walk up the hill from Armley, it’s a 1930s building now messed about by Greene King into a dining pub as your nostrils tell you on entering. The counter is dead ahead with three pulls, Tetley Bitter, Greene King IPA and a Greene King beer rejoicing in the name Peach Cooler – a fruit based drink for the lady I guess, its 3.4 like IPA so perhaps we know what's going on. Tartan carpet throughout the open plan interior, obviously mostly tables and chairs as furnishing with the odd bit of banquette seating here and there. Fairly tasteless wallpaper and decor of mirrors, usual piped music and screens plus a grabby machine for the kids or perhaps the shareholders pockets. At the back is a pool table and darts, in use by some builder types looking a bit out of place among the family diners and lunching ladies on my visit. At least it sells cask beer, a rarity in Armley but this is the posh bit, and it offers a 10% discount to Camra members.

The Travellers Rest is is a fairly large roadside pub that is uphill from the middle of Armley.
Once inside there is a large U shaped room with the bar facing, the room is carpeted and the seating is mainly normal tables and chairs, there are a few american diner seats to the right, there is a pool table and darts board to the rear right.
There were six real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Ilkley Mary Jane which went down very well, the other beers were Leeds Pale,Taylor Landlord,GK IPA,GK Abbot and Old Speckled Hen.
Food was being served but you can have a drink anywhere in the pub,the pub is also child friendly.
Background music was playing and the pub was very busy on my late Saturday afternoon visit with drinkers and diners.
This is a decent enough pub to have a few drinks in.
