Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal Park

Although somewhat hidden away in a residential side street, this large student pub resembles a suburban roadhouse. Partly opened out inside, but it retains a separate bar and lounge (although both are irregular in shape, with several different side areas). Disappointingly, none of the various handpumps on either counter were working, despite semi-visible clips for Doom Bar and Landlord. Made do with a quick John Smith's (£1.85, half).

A large, handsome building that has been opened out somewhat inside, but still retains some sense of separate areas around a central bar. This impression is enhanced by changes in wallpaper and style of furniture (booths, benches, sofas or just tables & chairs), and further denoted by some areas being occupied by obvious students, while working men are in others. The floor is variously original parquet or carpeted. On the bar were three hand pumps, though there may have been more in the other room, with Hobgoblin, Moorhouses Blond Witch and Sharps Doom Bar available. I went for the Doom Bar, which was only so-so; but then, it's a bit of a so-so beer and it takes an exceptional cellarman to get it into the "that's nice" category.
