A Thwaites pub with three of their beers available at the time of my visit, with room for one more on the fourth hand pump. The couple who run the pub have a couple of dogs the size of ponies - I guess they are Great Danes or something similar. They seem to be placid enough, but they took far too much interest in me, nuzzling my hand and investigating the contents of my ruck sack. They declined to "go and lay down" when told (presumably on the grounds that the correct verb is "lie down") and eventually had to be led away and were next seen taking up a space in front of the fire which was the size of Yorkshire - the space occupied by the dogs, that is, not the fire. I decided to take my half of Original (or what I still call Bitter) out into the garden - I didn't want them to come investigating my drink too. (I don't know if this pub qualifies as dog friendly - depends on how their dogs react to other dogs, I guess.)

A gem with the full range of Thwaites beers. Tidy garden at rear for when the weather is half decent.
Much bigger inside than you would thing with lots of natural light.
Good value food available.
Limited car parking at the front, on street parking also available.
Note: listed as Leeds but much nearer to Knottingley, Pontefract and Castleford.
