An incredibly blokey pub - despite being pretty full there were only 3 female customers visible on a Saturday afternoon. Despite that, it is not a bad pub (if quite lively) with several separate rooms and a few cask ales on: Tetley, TT Landlord, Milestone Newark Castle and Stancill Sumo, plus a couple of Lilley's ciders.

the pub has a lovely traditional exterior but inside it’s a bit of a rowdy sporty nightmare. The deafening combination of Gerry Rafferty, Sky Sports News and Leeds United fans briefly made me contemplate some very dark thoughts. it was probably just too busy today to enjoy. The real ale selection was bland. pub food menus are scattered around but seemingly being universally ignored.

A very good traditional pub. There were 6 handpumps on the bar with a cracking selection of beers. All were different and all were from breweries that were varied. The Toffee Mild from Naylor's was lovely. The other beers were from Salamander, Bank Top and someone I've forgotten. The clientele is a bit rough and ready but on this Thursday afternoon I thoroughly enjoyed this pub. Multi-roomed with a basement bit that I never ventured to. Down-to-earth pub.
