Still open in January 2018 and full of punters watching the footie. Decent pint of Leeds pale on the bar and a good quality dart board to keep us occupied for an hour.
A nice double tap with the Fox & Newt, with a set of steps connecting the two.

Reports of The Highland's closure have been rather premature. The pub is still very much open, but the threat from developers Depho is ongoing. A recent review in the Yorkshire Evening Post notes that staff, regulars and now Leeds Civic Trust are fighting the pub's cause.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Highland
Friendly community pub in an odd bit of no-man's-land between Burley Street and Kirkstall Road. Wedge-shaped bar and a side room. Simple decor but quite comfortably furnished. Three real ales on handpump: Tetleys Cask, Leeds Blonde and another blonde beer (the name of which now escapes me, but was £2.70 and in good condition). Worth searching it out if in the area.
