A flying visit, my first since the arson attack and I was keen to see how the restoration had fared. I needn’t have worried, you wouldn’t know what was new and what was original unless you looked closely. Beer as excellent as ever.

The Star of the show as far as I'm concerned, a tucked away basic looking pub from the outside, inside it's a warren of small little traditionally but comfortably furnished rooms. The centrally placed bar supports eight handpumps of which shamefully I didn't record the beers but staying for two pints had Bridgehouse Blonde and Roosters Easy Going Assassin. The fairly new Landlord, five weeks at the time of my June visit, was very chatty as well as knowledgeable of not only Leeds but the surrounding towns and cities, looking at my pub visit list he gave his view on the quality of my choices and as always took these type of opinions with a pinch of salt but was proved spot on further down the line. A fantastic pub experience, It's getting a rare 10/10.

Recently re-opened after an arson attack, seemingly with new landlords. Visited May 24. Still had 8 hand pulls which is good to see. Had a bitter which to be honest was a bit disappointing but hopefully that was just a one off, or because they are still getting themselves sorted (visited on the day after it re-opened). Main reason for visiting is that it's a proper old style multi-room pub. Very few of these left now, especially in the centre of Leeds. Enter through a corridor, what I assume was the tap room to the left, with part of the bar extending to the corridor as you go down it. Two separate 'snug' style rooms on the right of the corridor and a further room at the back. Regularly have live music in the back room.
If you're a beer/pub devotee and have some time in Leeds City Centre, please visit it to keep it open!!
