still a rough arse Sams pub in the Slaughtered Lamb mould, with the same old ‘characters’ that have likely been drinking here for decades. The main bar is tiny and you’ll struggle to find a seat, there’s another room though if you follow the stairs to the left. alas I couldn’t find a seat in here either, so I stood by the window. No cask in here -the rather confrontational bar lady dished up a pint of Sovereign, it was okay but cold, I drunk up fast and moved on. Glad it’s still going strong and hope it continues as such, there has to be a place for unfriendly dives like this in every city centre.

Covid? What Covid? The only comprise here is the lack of furniture otherwise business as usual. Pretty hot on Humphrey’s no phones rule though.
