Old Boots left this review about Gascoigne Arms
The second pub at the Cross and tall maypole in the middle of Barwick, owned by Greene King and ruthlessly modernised inside. The front area is open plan with the counter to the left hand back wall, behind on the left is a snug with a machine and leading into more seating and toilets, to the right its a dining area. Cream rather than grey paint job, with a modern flag floor it still has what looks like an older fire place, but it’s bright and airy with clear windows due to a recent refurb'. The counter has a brass elephant head handrail, it houses four pulls, three in use with local beers from Ossett (VG), Leeds Pale and Daleside Pace Setter, two lager heavy horseshoes all fairly standard but Neck Oil and Asahi are there along with the John Smith’s Smooth. Screens and piped music as well of course. Big garden at the back. Still not a bad pub.
