Splendid Victorian interior with a central servery. The main door leads to a West Riding drinking corridor with a pool room/sitting room leading off, to the left is the public bar with a lounge behind, also reached via the corridor. Five pulls of decent ales, one a house beer from Ridgeside on the corridor facing side, with others serving only cider on the other two counter faces. It is a student pub but was very quiet on a Saturday lunchtime termtime visit. There's bench seating and lots of original woodwork, fireplaces and tiles. Music and big screens spoil the illusion of being back in time.

why does this place have no reviews! it’s a pub in the university with a largely unspoilt multi roomed interior. Traditional pubs in student land are hard to come by so this is a really interesting one. three real ales and four real ciders on, none of which i have seen before. Sadly the music from inside and outside was clashing and both were far, far too loud. i don’t really mind that but it’s a shame there is nowhere to just relax and chat in such a beautiful pub.
