I used to call in here occasionally when I lived not far - it was on my way home from work, and if I'd remembered to bring my carry keg I would get four pints of Timothy Taylor Landlord to take home and a half to drink while they were trying to get the beer to fit in the container. I recall being struck at the time how different the beer tasted when I got home compared to the half poured with a tight, creamy head in the pub. The pub had a different layout then, and I have no idea if the present incarnation following the refurb noted by OB in his review is a recreation of an old floor plan or just a figment of someone's imagination. It certainly looked and felt authentic when I called in briefly last summer, but I'm no expert.

A famous Leeds pub given its position on the way into the city centre from the North. Closed for a long time by Sam Smiths for one of their usual meticulous and expensive make overs. Worth the wait as this is an not unexpected high quality refurb to the highest standards. It's a multi-roomed pub with high quality furnishings and decor. One bar to the front has the counter with the wide selection of Sam's (only) kegs but no Old Brewery Bitter. I did notice the no electronic devices and swearing ban being flouted - whatever would Mr Humphrey say. Off the main corridor there are a selection of sitting rooms. Apparently it has letting rooms upstairs too, while the Gents is in the cellar which appears to lead to drainage problems. There is a pool table in one room.
